Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad quality books with introduced typos. W.F. and John Barnes Company et al., Petitioners, v. International Harvester Company and Ex-Cell-O Corporation. U.S. Supreme Court Transcript of Record with Supporting Pleadings

The Making of Modern Law: U.S. Supreme Court Records and Briefs, 1832-1978 contains the world's most comprehensive collection of records and briefs brought before the nation's highest court by leading legal practitioners - many who later became judges and associates of the court. It includes transcripts, applications for review, motions, petitions, supplements and other official papers of the most-studied and talked-about cases, including many that resulted in landmark decisions. This collection serves the needs of students and researchers in American legal history, politics, society and government, as well as practicing attorneys. This book contains copies of all known US Supreme Court filings related to this case including any transcripts of record, briefs, petitions, motions, jurisdictional statements, and memorandum filed. This book does not contain the Court's opinion. The below data was compiled from various identification fields in the bibliographic record of this title. What Else Works?
What Else Works?

What Else Works? has developed out of a growing awareness amongst practitioners that centralized notions of what works and β€˜one size fits all’ approaches to work with offenders and other groups is inevitably limited in its scope and effectiveness. The book seeks to dispel the view of probation service users as 'offenders', and socially excluded people as 'problems' to be managed and treated, and instead considers more creative alternatives to reduce both re-offending and social exclusion. These include working separately with women, black and minority ethnic groups, local community-focussed projects, in education and nature and conservation programmes. The reader is encouraged to think about past and current policy, practice, and the relationship between practitioners and offenders or other socially excluded people. Questions are raised as to whether, and how, practice could be different and contributors explore the theme of creative and change-focussed practice or focus on a particular approach to a practice. This book will appeal to students on criminal justice, criminology and social work courses, professionals operating in these fields as well as the wider audience of professionals and academics who may engage with these β€˜service users’ from a range of policy and practice perspectives.

What Else Works? Creative Work with Offenders

This book has developed out of a growing awareness among practitioners that centralized notions of what works and 'one size fits all' approaches to work with offenders and other groups is inevitably limited in its scope and effectiveness. This realization reopens the door on 'what works, with whom, and under what circumstances,' i.e. the idea that successful intervention can come from a number of different approaches, linked to individual differences. The book argues that it may be unhelpful to continually think of probation service users as 'offenders' and socially excluded people as 'problems' to be managed and treated. It considers more creative alternatives to reduce both re-offending and social exclusion, for example: working with women and minority ethnic groups in local community focused projects, education, and nature and conservation programs. When Tractors Replaced Neighbors - One Farm's Story of the 1920s
When Tractors Replaced Neighbors - One Farm's Story of the 1920s

You might think you know what life was like on an American farm in the early 1900s. But do you really?
For generations, farming depended on shared labor. Threshing rings, borrowed teams, and hired hands made survival possible. In the early 1920s, that system began to crack. Gasoline tractors from Avery, Hart-Parr, International Harvester, Case, and Fordson promised independence and control. They also brought debt, breakdowns, and choices that could not be taken back.
When Tractors Replaced Neighbors follows one Midwestern farmer as he risks everything on a machine meant to replace both horses and people. As the work changes, so do the relationships that once held the farm community together. The story traces the most disruptive change in agricultural history through the daily decisions of one farm family and the neighbors forced to adapt alongside them.
Based on real events, real machines, and careful historical research, this is a grounded story about work, risk, and the moment farming stopped being shared labor and became something done alone.

White Deer Ghost of the Forest

The gracefulness of the white-tailed deer draws us to them. We love to watch deer as they graze, lifting their heads alertly, and when they're startled, leaping away with their tails flagging. This beauty is surpassed only by the rare white ones of their kinds.

Whitetail Deer and the Hunters Who Take Big Bucks
Whitetail Deer and the Hunters Who Take Big Bucks

I've enjoyed writing this book as much, if not more, than any book I've ever written on deer and deer hunting. I've learned so much on how hunters find trophy bucks, what they do to put themselves into positions to take those trophy bucks, and which hunters have the best chances of taking older, mature bucks. This book is a celebration of the men and women who've taken their bucks of a lifetime.
