This report on the Yuba Tractor is one of the more instructive studies on modern steam vehicular power. It is, therefore, of great value to anyone considering investing in modern steam. The analysis and the work have been done along with most of the inventing. One does not need to start from scratch on a new steam project. The report was written by Robert L. Harris and the patents are in the names of Harris and Marcus Lothrop. This book is a collection of as much Yuba tractor information as can be found. As mentioned, it is a valuable reference book as well as an interesting story. After the Yuba Tractor was developed Yuba went on to develop and make a prototype of a 12 horsepower steam outboard motor for the Navy, who wanted a quiet propulsion unit. Much of the current interest in steam power is for a small back yard electrical generating plant. A stationary steam plant is much easier to make because weight and volume are irrelevant. Every component necessary for a steam power plant is well-designed and described. The thermodynamics is explained. This book shows how modern steam design has solved most of the percieved problems with steam power. It is a good place to start as well as being the only source in print for this information.
