Excerpt from Belle City Threshers
I threshed and hauled my wheat to mill and had my money before anyone else in this county had begun to thresh, and by so doing I got from 10 to 20 cents per bushel more for my wheat, as the mills all wanted it at that time and there was no wheat coming in at that early date. Then it began to rain quite frequently after I was done threshing my wheat, and some of my neighbors who had fall wheat the same as mine lost a large per cent of it, and what they did thresh sold very cheap.
Very little help is required to operate the Belle City thresher. You and your boys or your hired help can handle it very satisfactorily. You do not have to pay for additional help, or pay back in work to your neighbors the assistance which you must call upon them to give you when large crews do your threshing. The work for your wife is not increased (you know how well your wife likes to cook for threshers), and you are not eaten out of house and home.
Doing your own work with your own help, you will not see how much you can get through the machine, but you will thresh and separate all the grain there is in the straw.
No expert is needed to Operate the Belle City - no previous experience in threshing is necessary. The capacity of the Belle City is exceptionally large considering the size of the machine.
About the Publisher
Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Excerpt from Binder Twine Industry
Yet, if it were not for the industry of those two widely separated nations, the farmers of this rich country would still be obliged to bind their grain with old-fashioned wire. Ln fact, the problem of twine was the problem of successful binding for years after the self-binder was an established fact.
It took many years and thousands of dollars to eliminate this primary drawback to the early grain growers of the country. One manufacturer alone spent $l trying to make twine out of grass, using paper as a substitute, and on straw, all in the end to be discarded as unsatisfactory. Then, after searching the world with a close-tooth rake, as it were, it was found that two fibres could be made to do the work - manila and sisal. The manila long, soft and even - had generally been used in multiple strands for making cable and cordage; while the sisal - strong, pliable and smooth - was found to lend itself perfectly to the manufacture of a single-strand cord, such as the self-binder necessitated.
About the Publisher
Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the original artefact. Excerpt from Ihc Titan Oil Tractors
The first machines Operated on steam - a reliable, but expensive form of power. Then came the gasoline trac tor cutting the cost of power below that of the steam tractor and animal power. Now we have the Titan oil tractor which operates on kerosene, distillate, solar oil, and other cheap fuels which can be bought in most localities for about half the cost of gasoline - and the Titan oil tractor uses less kerosene than the old tractors did gasoline and delivers just as much and far more reliable power.
There is another feature of Titan oil tractors which must be considered while horses must be fed all the year around, the expense of a Titan stops with the work. It costs nothing to keep, yet it is ready at a moment's notice to start work again. The winter quarters of a Titan need be only a small shed.
About the Publisher
Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Excerpt from Primrose: Cream Separators
Progress and success are synonymous. No movement, no undertaking can succeed unless it advances. Man's insatiate ambition to surpass the achievements of his fellow man has wrought many and wonderful changes in the commercial life of the nation. The most wonderful, the most far - reaching change has been the right about face of the business of dairy farming. For scores of years a humdrum existence was lived through on farms that had a few cows. Finally the value of the dairy product became a conscious fact to one man. The invention of the cream separator was the result. Progress has evolved the cream separator from a crude affair to a highly efficient machine, and has advanced dairy farming to its rightful position - the head of the nation's business life.
About the Publisher
Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Excerpt from The Spraying Outfits
The second consideration is how to market the crops with a profit. Economy in production is under control by the farmer and can be figured very closely. Scientific care of the trees is the first step in economy. It not only results in more perfect fruit, which means an economy in grading and packing, but increases the production per acre to the maximum. Labor is becoming more of a problem every year, and such machines as the power sprayer, mechanical grader, etc., not only help greatly to reduce expenses, but are a necessity in the larger orchards.
Grading and packing are two important points that many farmers underestimate. Fruit that is properly graded and packed always brings top prices.
In nearly every case, properly graded and attractively packed fruit will bring a higher price than fruit of the same quality that is not so carefully handled.
About the Publisher
Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
