This book comprehensively documents the activities of International Harvester Company (IHC) and its influence in Australia and New Zealand, from its inception to its merger with Case as Case IH. IHC began with a merger of harvesting machinery companies to form the International Trust, the world's biggest farm machinery enterprise at the time. Then IHC became involved with tractors to become the world's largest tractor and full-line machinery maker, setting production records that stand to this day. The book offers details on tractors and machinery models for collectors of the International Harvester brand line up. It also provides information and anecdotes about enthusiasts who collect, restore, and maintain vintage machines. International Harvester is copiously illustrated with much previously unpublished material.

Get the entire history of the best trucks on the road.

The International Truck and Engine Corporation has built the trucks that have been a staple of both agricultural and industrial trucking for nearly 100 years. International Harvester Trucks: The Complete History tells the complete story of the light-, medium-, and heavy-duty trucks, vans, and station wagons built by International Harvester during over a century of history, starting from the company's early days, through its first truck model in 1907, and right up to the present.

The focus is firmly on the trucks themselves including collectible machines such as the Travelall and Scout. Author Patrick R. Foster is one of the world's premier transportation historians. His accessible writing style, illustrated with hundreds of never-before-seen archival photographs, makes this book the best examination of one of the world's most prolific truck manufacturers.

Excerpt from International Hay Presses: International Harvester Company of America, Incorporated, Chicago, USA
In localities where but little or no hay is grown, and where there is a big demand for hay, high prices will be offered. The best markets are, as a rule, found in large cities, and on account of the limited space offered for storage in cities, there is a greater demand for baled hay than for loose hay. If the hay is baled it can be easily shipped to the market offering the highest price.
In feeding hay to his own stock, the farmer will find a great convenience and saving in having it baled, as it is much easier to handle baled hay than it is to drag loose hay around with a fork, and there is always considerable waste when loose hay is fed, due to its being scattered about the barn or feed lot. Baled hay can be stacked much easier and better than loose hay, and on account of the compactness of the stacks they can be protected from the weather by canvas coverings at a low cost.
About the Publisher
Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
