Excerpt from Belle City Threshers
I threshed and hauled my wheat to mill and had my money before anyone else in this county had begun to thresh, and by so doing I got from 10 to 20 cents per bushel more for my wheat, as the mills all wanted it at that time and there was no wheat coming in at that early date. Then it began to rain quite frequently after I was done threshing my wheat, and some of my neighbors who had fall wheat the same as mine lost a large per cent of it, and what they did thresh sold very cheap.
Very little help is required to operate the Belle City thresher. You and your boys or your hired help can handle it very satisfactorily. You do not have to pay for additional help, or pay back in work to your neighbors the assistance which you must call upon them to give you when large crews do your threshing. The work for your wife is not increased (you know how well your wife likes to cook for threshers), and you are not eaten out of house and home.
Doing your own work with your own help, you will not see how much you can get through the machine, but you will thresh and separate all the grain there is in the straw.
No expert is needed to Operate the Belle City - no previous experience in threshing is necessary. The capacity of the Belle City is exceptionally large considering the size of the machine.
About the Publisher
Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. The use of high dose of chemical fertilizers and poisonous plant protection chemicals adversely affecting the health of the soil and its fertility. Organic manures like FYM improve soil ferility therefore there is wide scope to its application to distribute it uniformly on the soil surface. Therefor Tractor Operated FYM Applicator was developed. The whole assembly was mounted on cultivator frame. The hopper was designed for the capacity of 0.554 tone of FYM. The slider plates were designed and fabricated to control the flow of manure. Agitator was used to mix and break the clods of manure. It was designed and fabricated in such a way that group of three metal plates form one helix for maximum working effectively. The drilling attachment consisted of PVC pipes, can be attached to the outlets and joined to back of tyne so that proper drilling of material in furrow. Spreading attachment, used to spreads manure to the surface of the field. The power was given by PTO shaft. The speed of agitator was selected as 170 rpm.. The field efficiency of drilling and spreading operation was 72 and 70 % respectively. The FYM application rate was 2236 kg/ha.

Despite the fact that the farmer spends more on machinery than anything else except the land and despite the fact that he spends more on tractors than on any other machine, there are few books on the choice and operation of tractors to fit modern farming conditions. Most of this book is about farming and how to fit tractors to the individual situation. Those sections are completely unbiased and Case are happy to sponsor such a book in the wider interests of sensible, more productive and safer use of tractors and machinery. Where the Company's views are expressed it is clearly stated as such. This is mainly in the area of design detail and then only for the sake of being concise and brief. The first part of the book is concerned with relating the needs of the individual farm to specific details of tractor performance. Later chapters deal with policy on size, numbers and replacement. This section is a major development specifically about tractors. It is developed from the author's work Farm Mechanisationfor Prl!fitwhich deals with machinery in the wider sense. Later chapters of this book are related to profes sionalism in operation, maintenance and care.

Excerpt from I H C Feed Grinder
The table below indicates the speed of the International feed grinder when operated with an IH C gasoline engine equipped with regular pulley from 4 to 20-horse power. In order to secure the greatest capacity with these grinders, they should be operated at maximum speed. This will permit feeding the grinder to its fullest capacity. The minimum speed for the 8 and 10-inch grinders is 300 revolutions per minute, and the maximum speed, when the ο¬y wheel is used, is 600 revolutions per minute. When run at a speed above 600 revo Iutions the ο¬y wheel should be removed.
About the Publisher
Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Excerpt from International Corn Planters
The planters are all steel with the exception of the tongue. The frame of the planters is one continuous piece of high grade steel, the rear portion being circular in form, giving the frame exceptional strength and stability. The frame is attached to the runner frame by two large pins, making a strong connection but allowing the runner frame to pivot independently and to con form to surface irregularities. The entire construction of the International corn planters is simple, but very efficient.
When the kernels are well planted, more than half of man's battle in securing a good crop is won. The International corn planter was designed for the one purpose of putting the corn in the ground in the best possible manner for rapid growth.
It is in the field that the International corn planter proves its superiority. Provided with variable and automatic drops, and with edge drop, ο¬at drop, or full hill drop plates, the corn is put into the ground according to the power of the soil to develop it to full maturity. Practically all fields vary as to the producing ability of the soil. A planter with an assortment of drops, there fore, becomes of great assistance in securing a uniform crop and enabling the soil to develop the seed to its fullest extent.
About the Publisher
Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Excerpt from Keystone Tillage Implements
The farmer who thoroughly understands all uses of the disk harrow has the secret of successful seed bed preparation. There is no farm tool which can turn as much profit if used to its fullest possibilities.
If a farmer desires to fall plow, following the binder with the disk harrow is the best thing he can do. The mulch which is formed by the dishing prevents undue evaporation from the surface and permits the moisture from below to soften the ground so that plowing is made easy. The ground turns over in a mellow condition instead of dry, hard clods, as is true in dry fails when dishing is not done-after the binder.
Dishing, before and after plowing in the Spring. Enables the farmer to make a compact seed bed in much less time than when plowing without previous dishing. This is of special value in late springs.
About the Publisher
Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Excerpt from Low Corn King Manure Spreaders
The manure spreader is necessary to a farmer from two standpoints. First, it is a time and labor saver, reducing the work of two men to one, and thereby decreasing working time 50 per cent. Second, the spreader puts the manure on to the ground in such condition that the soil is able to quickly assimilate the plant food constituents and thereby render the greatest good to the soil.
About the Publisher
Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
