How to Hunt and Take Big Buck Deer on Small Properties
How to Hunt and Take Big Buck Deer on Small Properties

As I've been interviewing hunters from across the nation, I continue to hear the same story. "You won't believe how small the property is where I'm taking trophy bucks." With the price of deer leasing continuing to escalate and fewer large tracts of land available, hunters are leasing small tracts of land or gaining permission to hunt these small properties. In this book, you'll read about 14-different hunters who either have gained permission or leased properties as small as 6 acres to as much as 250 acres, and they consistently taken older-age-class bucks off these little lands. When John and Jim Scott got pictures of a monstrous 10-point buck made from a surveillance camera at a suburban apartment complex, they immediately secured permission to hunt those 60 acres. John took a buck that scored in the 170s, and his twin brother, Jim, took a buck that scored over 160. Today they consistently take older-age-class bucks every year off this property and other small lands they hunt all over the nation. "When we learned that big bucks live on small properties, Jim and I both changed the way we hunt," John Scott explains. "Now, we focus all our time and energy hunting on and finding small properties. This book will teach you:* how to find and identify a small property that may hold trophy bucks;* how to get the landowner's name of the small property;* how to use the boundary lines of adjacent properties to learn where big bucks are;* what to look for on small properties that cause that land to produce older-age-class bucks every year; and* how to find and take trophy bucks on small woodlots. Thanks to some new types of maps available, often you can find the properties you want to hunt and then lease or obtain permission to hunt them without leaving home. If you're tired of paying high prices to join leases where you see few if any older-age-class bucks, if you want to have small family hunting spots for you and your family members, and if you want to become a trophy deer hunter who consistently bags big bucks every season, "How to Hunt and Take Big Buck Deer on Small Properties" is a must read.

How to Hunt Deer Like a Pro
How to Hunt Deer Like a Pro

How do you know if the land you hunt has a trophy deer on it? Wildlife manager Bob Zaiglin, of Uvalde, Texas and Jim Crumley, the father of modern-day hunting camouflage, tell you how to find out. GPS can make finding and taking that trophy buck easier. This hunting guide will teach you how to hunt big bucks where no one else can find them, how to call deer, and how to become versatile as a deer hunter, so that if one deer tactic doesn't work, another one will.Dr. Keith Causey, retired professor of Wildlife Science at Auburn University, says, "Deer of both sexes and all ages leave a wide variety and a large amount of information for other deer in their geological locations at scrapes. Although most people believe that dominant bucks in an area utilize these signposting regions, other deer use these signposts too for information." In the chapter, "How to find Bucks at Scrape," Causey describes the best way to hunt a scrape. Brad Harrison of Neosho, Missouri, is a nationally-known videographer, professional deer hunter and master at calling deer. Another master is Will Primos of Primos Game Calls. These two experts will tell the best deer calls and when to use them in this book. One question that's mystified deer hunters for many years, is how to know when bucks move. And for over 20 years, Bo Pitman, lodge manager of White Oak Plantation, has been studying deer movement patterns. He explains what types of conditions are best for predicting deer movement. How do you hunt deer in the snow? Norm LeBrun, of Quebec, Canada, a guide at Anticosti Island, hunts deer in the snow almost all year long and provides timely insights on how and where to take big bucks under these conditions. Eddie Salter lives in Alabama and Mark Drury in Missouri, and these two master deer hunters give you hunting tips for when the weather is hot and for hunting in swamps. Dr. Robert Sheppard tells you about some tricks that bucks play on whitetail deer hunters. There are also two chapters on how to hunt bucks at the end of deer season and a chapter on how to train bucks to come to you, so you don't have to go find them. For 50 years, I've been studying and hunting with some of the best whitetail hunters from around the country and in Canada, and this book is the combined knowledge of these time-tested, deer-hunting professionals. If you want to learn how to be a hunter, you need to have this book.

Hunting Camp 52 Tales from a North Woods Deer Camp
Hunting Camp 52 Tales from a North Woods Deer Camp

Meet the Jolly Boys—five men from northern Wisconsin who built a deer hunting shack in 1955 and established a tradition that has now lasted over six decades. Hunting Camp 52, affectionately known as Blue Heaven, is a place where every trail, rock, and ravine has its own nickname; every kill is recorded by hand on a window shade; every hunter happily croons along during evening songfests; and every rowdy poker game lasts late into the night. The outhouse is always cold, the porcupines are always a problem, and the vehicles are always getting stuck in the mud, but there’s nowhere else these men would rather be.

In Hunting Camp 52: Tales from a North Woods Deer Camp, John Marvin Hanson—the son of one of the original Jolly Boys—recounts the sidesplitting antics, the memorable hunts, and the profound camaraderie that has developed over almost sixty seasons at Blue Heaven. Hanson also includes more than twenty recipes for gourmet comfort foods prepared each year at camp, from pickled venison hearts to Norwegian meatballs to the treasured recipe for Reali Spaghetti. As the Jolly Boys age and younger generations take up the mantle of Blue Heaven, Hanson comes to appreciate that hunting camp is not about bagging a trophy buck as much as it is about spending time with the friends and family members who matter most.

Hunting Trophy Deer
Hunting Trophy Deer

Hunting Trophy Deer is designed to aid the hunter in scouting and collecting that "one for the wall," that elusive, mature buck. Trophy deer are not acquired by luck, writes Wootters, but by skill, planning, and discipline. Wootters also offers some controversial ideas on another aspect of trophy hunting - game management. This is a basic, sensible, clear hunt plan that enables any hunter to go out in his own local hunting area and collect the best buck that region has to offer. And for the hunter who aspires to have a listing in the Boone and Crockett records, Wootters advises where the big bucks have been coming from in North America most recently. Revised and augmented from its 1977 edition, Hunting Trophy Deer includes the freshest information on this classic sport. (61/4 X 91/4, 276 pages, b&w photos, diagrams, charts)

Jim Crumley's Secrets of Bowhunting Deer
Jim Crumley's Secrets of Bowhunting Deer

Using a black magic marker and a gray work jumpsuit, Jim Crumley of Buchanan, Virginia, drastically changed the nature and purpose of hunting camouflage when he created the first sportsman's camouflage - Trebark. Crumley's idea that vertical camouflage patterns best represented objects in the forest and created an illusion of a tree stump or the trunk of a tree brought into being a new term, "sportsman's camouflage." Prior to Crumley's forward thinking, most of the camouflage used for hunting was military camouflage. But Crumley's love of bowhunting and his desire to be more invisible changed hunting clothing forever. Throughout his life, Crumley has been a constant student of how to bowhunt better, and his desire to learn new and better techniques for bowhunting was one of the reasons he created Trebark camouflage. In this hunting guide he shares the wisdom that he's learned throughout his lifetime about how to be a hunter, how to find a deer lease, how to scout for deer and more. I'm sure his deer hunting tips will help you take more bucks with your bow this deer season.SPECIAL FEATURES INCLUDE HOW TO:*Have a Magic 60 Acres to Hunt*Decide the Best Equipment to Use*Find Deer Year-Round*Locate Land to Hunt*Know the Best Place to Put Your Tree Stand*Get Bucks Within Bow Range

Lost The Frank Vandenbrouke Story
Lost The Frank Vandenbrouke Story

Frank Vandenbroucke is the great lost talent of world road cycling. Born in Mouscron in Belgium in 1974, he went on to race for three of the biggest professional teams on the world circuit - Lotto, Mapei and Cofidis, and became the darling of the cycling press for his daring approach to winning races. Between 1993 and 1999 he won a slew of races, including the Liege-Bastogne- Liege (known amongst the cycling fraternity as the hardest race in the world), Het Volk, Paris-Nice, Paris-Brussels and stages of the Tour of Spain. The Tour de France was in his sights. But his personal life was another story; he became addicted to cocaine and succumbed to pressures within his teams to take EPO and other performance-enhancing drugs. The notorious Cofidis team - where he was joint team leader with Scotland's David Millar - eventually broke him. On leaving Cofidis he moved to the Italian team Lampre and then a number of other teams until he effectively ended his career in 2004, aged only 30. Five years later, he was dead.

Every moment in the saddle is an opportunity to express his personality, and nobody else has succeeded in making elite cycling look so much fun. From no-hands wheelies on the slopes of Mont Ventoux to press conference mischief with clamouring journalists, Peter exudes a passion for the sport and a lovable desire to bring smiles to the faces of his fans. Discover the gruelling training programmes necessary for his success, how he copes with the pressure of high expectation, the moments of desperation - like in 2017 when Peter realised he wouldn't be allowed to challenge for his sixth Tour de France green jersey - and feel that sense of elation when he crosses the line ahead of the pack."--Provided by publisher.

My world.

E le pagine di "My world" ci aiutano a scoprirne i lati umani e professionali meno noti.

Opening Day: Deer Tails from Blind Sucker Lodge
Opening Day: Deer Tails from Blind Sucker Lodge

OPENING DAY: Deer Tails from Blind Sucker Lodge

Amusing and mostly true stories from a deer hunting camp in Michigan's Upper Peninsula near the shores of Lake Superior. The forests surrounding the Blind Sucker Lodge are deep and dark and abundant with wildlife, including whitetail deer. Or so they say.

Follow along with a number of short stories chronicling opening day of deer hunting season - the most revered day of the year for many hunters across Michigan. You will meet nine characters that are responsible husbands and fathers downstate, but transform into less dignified versions of themselves the moment they arrive in camp.

The stories begin with the morning alarm and the struggle to see who will go out into the cold dark air and deep snow to fire up the generator or be first in line at the outhouse. Is it better to be first on the cold seat, or last on a warm seat?
They end the day with the final convoy of trucks arriving back at camp, perhaps with a deer in hand.

In between, the tales include a few examples of real hunting, though they are few. More often the reader will glimpse the internal struggle that each hunter goes through, often with humorous results.

This good natured view into one truly dysfunctional deer camp will make you smile. Disguised underneath the insults and barbs is the close bond of brotherhood that is common to every deer camp.
