Excerpt from For More and Better Corn in the Northwest <p>For the purpose of further demonstrating the possibilities of growing corn and alfalfa in North Dakota, the Agricultural Extension Department of the International Harvester Company of New Jersey leased a half section farm for a period of five years. The year 1912 was a poor corn year as the season was unfavorable, especially so because of a wet fall and a killing frost which came before much of the corn was matured.
